Ghana Students Abroad: Explore Six Scholarship Opportunities

Ghanaian students seeking to study abroad have numerous scholarship opportunities available to them.

Despite the challenges posed by the depreciation of the Ghana cedi, which lost 27% of its value against the US dollar in 2024, financial aid can help make international education more accessible.

Here are six scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian students to pursue their academic dreams abroad:

1. *University of British Columbia, Canada*: The University of British Columbia offers various international scholarships, including the International Major Entrance Scholarship, which ranges from $7,221.21 to $14,442.41 per year.

The Outstanding International Student Award is also available, ranging from $7,221.21 to $18,053.02.2.

*University of Tsukuba, Japan*:

The University of Tsukuba provides scholarships for international students, including the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship, which offers full rides to eligible students. Other merit-based funding opportunities are also available.

3. *University of Manchester, UK*:

The University of Manchester offers the Global Futures Scholarship, which awards undergraduate students $31,110.36 across three years of study, and master’s students $19,443.97 as a discount to overseas tuition fees.

4. *GREAT Scholarships, UK*:

The UK government’s GREAT Scholarship programme offers funding of $12,965.95 for a one-year postgraduate programme in selected universities across the UK.

5. *Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Scholarship*:

The GNPC Foundation Scholarship Scheme provides funding for Ghanaian students to study abroad, covering tuition, day-to-day expenses, textbooks, and project allowances.

6. *National University of Singapore*:

The National University of Singapore offers the Industry-Relevant PhD Scholarship, which fully covers tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend of $2,038.87 for international students pursuing PhD studies in selected fields.
