Ghana will host the 2025 ADEA Triennale on Education and Training in Accra from October 29 to 31. The event is organised by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA).
The Triennale is one of the biggest gatherings on education in Africa. It will bring together education ministers, government officials, development partners, researchers, and experts to talk about how to improve education systems across the continent.
What the Event is About
This year’s theme is:
“Strengthening the resilience of Africa’s educational systems: advancing towards ending learning poverty by 2035 with a well-educated and skilled workforce for the continent and beyond.”
The discussions will focus on:
- Reducing learning poverty by the year 2035
- Making sure all children get strong basic education
- Improving how education is funded, especially as global support changes
- Making vocational and technical education more available in secondary schools
- Supporting job-ready skills through new and sustainable methods
The Triennale will also look at progress made since the last one in Mauritius in 2022, and consider the African Union’s new goals, including the Decade of Accelerated Education (2025–2034) and the 2024 Year of Education for Africa.
Ghana’s Involvement
Ghana’s Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, said the country is honoured to host the event. He said it’s a chance for Ghana to show the progress it has made in education and to learn from other countries.
He also said Ghana supports Africa’s goal to end learning poverty and help young people develop the skills they need to succeed.
ADEA’s Executive Secretary, Albert Nsengiyumva, said Ghana was chosen because of its strong efforts in improving education.
Who Will Attend and What Will Happen
Over 1,000 people are expected to take part—500 in person and 500 online.
The first day will have exhibitions and partner meetings. The second day will focus on main discussions and policy talks, and the final day will highlight key messages from the event. There may also be visits to local schools and institutions.
