Institute for Education Studies Boss Calls for Expansion of Education Funding

The Executive Director of the Institute for Education Studies, Dr. Peter Partey Anti, has emphasized the urgent need to expand financial resources dedicated to funding education in Ghana.

Dr. Anti highlighted that widening the scope of funding is essential to addressing persistent challenges, particularly in the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and curriculum reforms at the basic education level.

He stressed the importance of implementing efficiency measures to ensure that funds allocated for education are used appropriately.

Speaking on JoyNews PM Express, Dr. Anti expressed concern that many of the sector’s challenges could have been avoided if earlier discussions had taken place.

He pointed out that education affects every household in the country, making it crucial for decisions to be made inclusively and not just by a small group of leaders.

Dr. Anti warned that poor educational policies could harm an entire generation, underlining the need for broader consultations in decision-making processes.

He commended the National Education Forum for its efforts and expressed hope that the outcomes would lead to meaningful reforms. To ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of education financing, Dr. Anti called for innovative funding models that could improve both the quality and accessibility of education, focusing on bridging inequality.
