KNUST Appoints Kwasi Debrah As Digital Communications Officer

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has appointed Emmanuel Kwasi Debrah as the new Assistant Registrar in charge of the Digital Communications section of the University Relations Office.

In this role, Debrah will oversee content production for all university websites and social media platforms. A highly accomplished multimedia journalist, Debrah has a background in documentary filmmaking with a focus on science, technology, health, art, entertainment, business, and research reporting.

QHe has produced a wide range of news reports, features, and documentaries across radio, television, and online platforms. Debrah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, a Certificate in Health Systems Transformation, and a Master of Public Health in Health Education and Promotion, all from KNUST.

Additionally, he has a certificate in Mobile Journalism from the Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie. Starting his career as a medical laboratory scientist and voiceover artist in 2011, Debrah transitioned into journalism in 2014 at Moonlite FM, Sunyani, before moving to Sky Broadcasting Limited in 2015.

He later joined Multimedia Group Limited, where he worked as a senior multimedia journalist by 2022. Over the years, Debrah has received numerous accolades, including the 2019 Best Science Reporter award and recognition from the Society of Environmental Journalists.

He was also honored with the 2021 Merck Foundation Africa Media More than a Mother Fertility Award and the 2022 ICFJ/WHO Road Safety Reporting contest award. In 2023, he won the Best ICT/Telecoms Reporter at the WAMECA Awards for his exposé on unsolicited mobile subscriptions in Ghana.

Debrah is also actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Ghana Journalists Association, the Ghana Science Association, and the National Association of Science Writers. Outside of journalism, he is an inventor, poet, and singer-songwriter under the stage name El Tov.
