Pentecost University Graduates 254 Students at 16th Congregation Ceremony

Pentecost University held the second phase of its 16th graduation ceremony last Saturday at its main campus in Accra, where 254 students graduated from various academic disciplines. This followed an earlier congregation in December 2024, during which over 1,400 students graduated.

The ceremony was held under the theme “Graduates unleashed to live a life worthy of their calling” and brought together faculty members, students, staff, and families of the graduating class.

During his keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, encouraged the graduates to set themselves apart not only by their academic achievements but also by their integrity.

He urged them to be professionals and problem solvers in their chosen fields, rather than simply adding to the growing number of graduates in the country.

He reminded the graduates of the financial investment made into their education, whether by the church, family, or sponsors, and encouraged them to give back by serving their communities, the church, and the nation.

Professor Agyapong-Kodua also highlighted the university’s recent achievements, including being named the 2024 Leader in Innovative Education by the African Academia Awards and Africa’s Most Innovative University by Africa Education Support.

He mentioned the university’s involvement in international projects such as the European Commission’s APED Reset grant for electric vehicle component manufacturing and the EU–AU Mobility grant, which supports digital manufacturing education across Africa.

He announced the establishment of the Pentecost Engineering Village, a technological hub that will focus on artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation. He also revealed that construction of a 3,000-bed hostel project had begun to address student accommodation needs.

In terms of academic programmes, the Vice-Chancellor noted the launch of the world’s first Doctor of Helper Medicine programme and the introduction of new offerings such as the PhD in Engineering, MSc in Intelligent Engineering Systems, PhD in Theology and Mission, PhD in Leadership and Governance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He added that Pentecost University is now the third university in Africa to offer the PPE programme.
