‘My Government Will Review The Constitution To Discourage Corruption’ – John Mahama Vows

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has pledged to address corruption and inefficiencies in the public sector as part of his strategy to drive national development.

Speaking in an interview with Germany’s DW TV, Mahama shared his plans for governance reforms aimed at improving accountability and reducing waste.

Mahama acknowledged growing public frustration over poor management of resources, governance failures, and rising national debt.

He identified corruption and inefficiency as key obstacles to progress and stressed the need for structural changes to promote economic stability.A central part of his plan is to revisit the constitutional review process.

He explained, “One of the first steps will be to review the constitution and explore ways to make it more dynamic and suited to modern governance.”

The president-elect also highlighted the importance of tackling corruption through stricter accountability measures and penalties for public officials involved in misconduct.

He emphasized the need for systemic reforms to eliminate waste and improve debt management, ensuring better leadership and resource allocation.

Mahama concluded by stating that aligning constitutional amendments with current governance needs is essential for building a more efficient and transparent system.
