Brilliant Ghanaian Student Risks Losing KNUST Slot Despite Scoring 8As

A 19-year-old former student of Adisadel College, Elvis Marfo, is facing a daunting challenge despite his exceptional academic performance.

Marfo scored 8 straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and gained admission to study Human Biology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

However, his academic future is uncertain due to financial constraints. Marfo is expected to pay GH¢16,172 before the deadline of January 14, 2025, but has been unable to raise the required amount.

A post shared by popular Ghanaian presenter Serwaa Amihere highlighted Marfo’s plight, appealing to the general public to help raise funds to support his education.

The news has sparked mixed reactions from netizens, with some sympathizing with Marfo’s situation while others have called on President John Dramani Mahama to swiftly implement his free tertiary education policy for first-year students.
