‘ I’ll Go Into Full Time Farming When I Retire’ – President-Elect Mahama Reveals

President-elect John Mahama has announced plans to dedicate himself to farming full-time after retiring from politics.

During a visit to his farms in Yapei and Busunu in the Savannah region, Mahama shared his deep love for agriculture and outlined his vision for life after public service.

“Farming is my life. If I hadn’t gone into politics, I would have been a full-time farmer,” Mahama said. “When I retire, I’ll go into full-time farming. If you want to find me, you’ll have to come to the farm.”

Mahama’s farming journey has grown impressively over the years. Starting with 300 goats and small ruminants, his farm now has nearly 500 animals, with an additional 200 recently added.

He plans to expand into sheep and cattle farming. On the crop side, his farm produces maize and soybeans, which are supplied to poultry farms in Asutuare.

Despite the demands of his political career, Mahama has continued to prioritize his passion for farming, describing it as both therapeutic and fulfilling. “This is more than a business for me; it’s a way of life,” he said.

Mahama’s commitment to agriculture reflects his dedication to Ghana’s food security and his support for local farmers.

His decision to return to farming full-time highlights his enduring passion for the sector and his vision for the future.
