Koforidua Technical University Graduates Urged To Leverage Digitization And AI

The 21st Congregation of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) saw former Rector Dr. George Afrani reiterating the importance of embracing digitization, software development, and artificial intelligence (AI) for young entrepreneurs to thrive.

He noted that these fields, crucial to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, hold immense potential for innovators.

Speaking on “The Future of Science and Technology Education: The Role of Stakeholders,” Dr. Afrani highlighted AI’s vast opportunities for graduates to create innovative solutions, despite being in its early stages.

During the ceremony, 1,332 graduates received Higher National Diplomas, and 797 earned Bachelor of Technology degrees.

Dr. Afrani advised graduates to adopt a proactive entrepreneurial mindset, using digitization and social media to start small.

He cited Osei Kwame Despite and Esther Ocloo as examples of how discipline, hard work, and technical expertise can lead to success.

Dr. Afrani also stressed that entrepreneurship can help address Ghana’s unemployment challenges, urging youth to commit to self-employment and innovation.

Vice Chancellor Professor John Owusu commended the graduates and announced significant advancements in the university’s ICT infrastructure, including the procurement of 100 computers to refurbish laboratories and offices. The university received GHC950,000 from the government for academic facilities, infrastructure, and research.

However, Professor Owusu outlined challenges such as limited staff accommodation, insufficient library and laboratory facilities, and inadequate workshop spaces, appealing to the government for support to address these needs.
