KWAM 1 Grieves the Loss of His Mother and Ex-Wife Within Days

Nigerian Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, is in mourning after losing both his mother and ex-wife in a short span of time.

KWAM 1’s mother, Halima Anifowoshe, passed away at the age of 105.

The legendary musician shared the heartbreaking news on his social media platforms, posting a photo of himself with his late mother.

He captioned the post: “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi Raji’un. RIP Mama.”This loss comes just days after KWAM 1’s ex-wife, Alhaja Hafsat Ajoke Anifowoshe, passed away on Tuesday following an undisclosed illness.

She was buried at Abari cemetery in Lagos, in accordance with Muslim rites.In response to the tragedy, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, expressed his condolences on social media, writing on X: “On behalf of my family, I sincerely sympathise with the popular Fuji maestro, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), who recently suffered a double bereavement.”

He continued, “The reported deaths of his ex-wife, Alhaja Hafsat Ajoke Anifowoshe, and his mother, Alhaja Halima Shadiya Anifowoshe, within a few days, are indeed tragic.

I commiserate with him and his entire family during this challenging period of mourning. May Almighty Allah grant them the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss, forgive the sins of the departed, and grant them eternal rest.”
