Over 1,400 Students Inducted Into Ghana School Of Law

The Ghana School of Law has inducted over 1,400 new students into its Professional Law Course during a ceremony held on January 17, 2025, at the Accra Main Campus.

The Director of the institution, His Lordship Justice Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, urged the students to comply with school rules and excel in their examinations to progress further in their legal education.

Justice Oppong showed the institution’s commitment to fairness and emphasised that admission is based solely on merit. “Everybody is complying with the rules—white and black colour, not that we are focusing on any colour.

But we want to see the extent to which our students obey the rules and the laws they have to enforce. And you can see that everybody is complying, and that is the joy of it,” he stated.

The Director encouraged the students to approach their studies with diligence, noting that they would be tested on seven courses by June.

He expressed hope that they would all pass their exams to create opportunities for others aspiring to join the school.

He also described the Ghana School of Law as an institution modeled for fostering good behavior and legitimate access to the legal profession.

Similarly, His Lordship Justice Kweku Ackaah-Boafo, a lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, emphasized the importance of ethics in the legal profession.

He remarked, “I teach ethics in the final year. My desire and my prayer are that the lawyers we’re training now will be ethical. When we’re ethical…in the way we act, perform our duties as citizens of this nation, then this nation can move from one level to another.

So, it’s ethics, ethics.”Some inductees also shared their excitement and expectations.

Umaru Sanda Amadu, a journalist at Citi FM/Channel One TV and one of the new students, described his journey as inspiring.

He said, “Being here is not an easy task, education generally is not an easy task. But when God plans things and he keeps pushing you, nothing can stop you. He brought me this far.”

He also expressed gratitude for becoming the first in his family to achieve numerous academic milestones, including admission into law school.

Another inductee, Arise Abeiku Ansah, acknowledged the challenges of the legal profession but expressed optimism.

“We expect it to be exciting and challenging. We know that the profession is a rigorous one, and we hope to succumb to all the challenges posed to us and come out successfully,” he said.
