15,750 Set To Graduate From The University Of Ghana

The University of Ghana recently held a congregation for the 2023-2024 academic year graduates from the Colleges of Humanities (COH), College of Basic and Applied Sciences (CBAS), and the School of Graduate Studies.

A total of 15,750 students are expected to graduate during a seven-day congregation period, which includes 18 sessions across various faculties.

At the ceremony held in Accra on February 12, 2025, 2,927 students received their certificates. Among them were 123 PhD graduates, 3,444 Master’s degrees, 11,067 undergraduates, and 1,116 students with other degrees.

The Vice-Chancellor of UG, Professor Nana Aba Appiah-Amfo, in her speech, highlighted the university’s continued success, stating that it ranked first in Ghana, first in West Africa, and third in Sub-Saharan Africa in the Times Higher Education rankings.

She also spoke about the university’s strategic plan, focusing on academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development, and shared that for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year, 17,473 undergraduate students and 4,523 graduate students had been enrolled.

In terms of infrastructure, the university has completed a new 1,256-seat Diamond Jubilee Hall and enhanced its IT infrastructure for better connectivity and service delivery.

During the event, Samuel Ocran, the Group CEO of Star Assurance, encouraged the graduates to trust their instincts, embrace emerging technologies, and continuously adapt to change, urging them to contribute positively to society as they embark on their professional journeys.
