British Rapper Stormzy Handed Nine-Month Driving Ban in UK

Popular British rapper, Stormzy, has been banned from driving for nine months in the UK after being caught using his mobile phone behind the wheel of his Rolls-Royce vehicle.

The incident occurred on March 7, 2024, in west Kensington, London, when an off-duty police officer spotted him and told him to “get rid of your tints and get off your phone”.

Stormzy pleaded guilty to the offense via a letter and was handed the ban by District Judge Andrew Sweet at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.

The judge criticized Stormzy’s “dangerous and irresponsible” actions, noting that his driving record was “not good”.

Stormzy was also fined £2,010 ($2,498) and had six additional points added to his license, bringing his total to 12 points.

In the UK, drivers can be disqualified from driving if they accumulate 12 or more penalty points within a three-year period.

Stormzy’s solicitor, Peter Csemiczky, confirmed that the rapper had removed the tinted windows from his vehicle and apologized unreservedly for his behavior.

With this ban, Stormzy will have to take a break from driving for the next nine months, giving him time to reflect on his actions and prioritize road safety.
