Ghana Gas CEO Receives KNUST Alumni Service Excellence Award

Dr. Ben Asante, CEO of Ghana National Gas Company, has been honoured with the KNUST Alumni Service and Distinguished Alumni CEO of the Year Award. 

The award was presented at the KNUST College of Engineering Alumni Excellence Awards and Fundraising Dinner, held at the Labadi Beach Resort Hotel in Accra. 

This event aimed to fund postgraduate programs, award scholarships to exceptional students, and enhance excellence and teaching at the university. 

Nana Otuo Siriboe II, chairman of the occasion, praised the university’s initiative, stating that the establishment of the endowment fund is a trustworthy step representing a deep commitment to excellence, sustainability, and groundbreaking contributions to Ghana, Africa, and the world. 

The endowment fund will provide scholarships to needy students, promote research excellence, upgrade facilities, and advance professional growth. 

Professor Jerry John Kponyo stated the importance of collaboration between industry, academia, government, alumni, and students to achieve quality university education.

He noted that top universities worldwide have achieved greatness due to strong relationships between their alumni and the university. 

Alumni support includes financial contributions, sharing expertise by co-teaching courses, and mentoring students. 

Vice Chancellor Rita Akosua Dickson acknowledged alumni contributions and urged continued support to uphold the university’s sanity and integrity. Other awardees from corporate institutions and individuals were also recognised during the event. 

The KNUST College of Engineering Alumni Excellence Awards and Fundraising Dinner marked a significant step towards establishing KNUST as a global leader in engineering education and innovation.
