Mufti Menk Declares Ghana’s Jollof The Best

Renowned Zimbabwean Islamic scholar and motivational speaker Mufti Ismail Musa Menk has weighed in on the long-standing Ghana-Nigeria jollof rice rivalry with a humorous and diplomatic perspective.

Speaking during a visit to Ghana, Mufti Menk said,

“Ghanaian jollof is the best jollof as long as it is eaten in Ghana. The moment you go to Nigeria, Nigerian jollof is the best. When you are eating it in Nigeria, the Ghanaian one doesn’t taste nice.”

He shared this lighthearted take during an appearance on GTV’s Breakfast Show with Valerie Danso and Thelma Tackie, clarifying that his statement was meant to avoid taking sides in the playful culinary rivalry.

“Some people only listened to the first part and started saying I took sides. I said, well, we took sides with the place we are in,” he explained.

Mufti Menk’s tactful response may not settle the debate, but it certainly added a fun twist to the ongoing jollof conversation between Ghana and Nigeria.
