NUGS to Sue WAEC Over Withheld WASSCE Results

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has announced plans to take legal action against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for withholding WASSCE results until after university admissions have closed.

On Monday, February 17, NUGS formally informed the Greater Accra Regional Police Command of its intention to stage a protest, demanding justice for affected students whose results were withheld or canceled.

Speaking to Citi News, NUGS President Daniel Korley Botchway described WAEC’s actions as an abuse of power. He emphasized that beyond the protest, NUGS will take the issue to court to ensure such delays do not happen again.

“We want to bring public attention to WAEC’s misuse of its authority. This is an injustice that should not happen again. Beyond the demonstration, we will go to court to get a declaration ensuring this does not repeat next year,” he stated.
