‘Politicians Disrespect Ghana’s Creative Arts Sector’ – MC Yaa Yeboah

Media personality and entertainment critic MC Yaa Yeboah has criticized Ghanaian politicians for their lack of respect for the creative arts sector.

Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on November 30, 2024, she accused politicians of neglecting the industry despite relying on it to promote their agendas.

“Politicians have long disrespected the creative arts sector,” Yaa Yeboah said. “Yet they always turn to us to amplify their messages, like Nacee’s songs that explain their manifestos effectively.”

She also expressed frustration over the absence of significant leadership roles for creative arts professionals in government. Yaa Yeboah pointed out that individuals like Mark Okraku-Mantey and Dzifa Gomashie are often appointed as deputies, which restricts their ability to make independent decisions under the constitution.

“They can’t even respect us enough to appoint one of our own as the creative arts minister,” she added. “Instead, they make us deputies who need their bosses’ approval to act, yet we get blamed because we’re the public faces.”

Yaa Yeboah’s remarks reflect the growing dissatisfaction within the creative arts community over its treatment by politicians.
