FIFA Launches Financial Governance Workshop For Member Associations In Ghana

FIFA began a three-day Financial Governance workshop for its member associations on January 29, 2025, at the Accra Marriott Hotel in Ghana.

The workshop aims to improve financial management, transparency, and accountability within football organizations.

Christoph Suppiger, FIFA’s Head of Financial Governance, highlighted that by the end of the workshop, participating associations should be equipped with skills to prevent conflicts of interest and make informed decisions about providers.

FIFA has also introduced a financial governance guide for member associations to implement in their respective institutions.

This event, the first of its kind in Ghana, is being attended by 10 English-speaking African member associations, including representatives from Cape Verde, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Gambia, Kenya, and Sierra Leone.

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, expressed excitement about hosting the workshop, noting that FIFA’s decision reflects Ghana’s good management of its football affairs.
