Alhaji Ayaana, a 65-year-old businessman and philanthropist from Tamale, has been rewarded with a brand-new Renault car and an undisclosed amount of money after walking 250 kilometers from Kumasi to Accra to witness John Dramani Mahama’s swearing-in as President on January 7, 2025.

The car was presented by renowned broadcaster and showbiz personality Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD). In a widely shared video, Alhaji Ayaana is seen receiving the car keys and taking the vehicle for a test drive.

The gesture has garnered mixed reactions from the public. Many praised KOD and those behind the gift for recognizing Alhaji Ayaana’s dedication, while others questioned the necessity of such a reward.

This isn’t the first time Alhaji Ayaana has undertaken such symbolic walks. In 1997, he walked to honor the second-term inauguration of former President Jerry John Rawlings.

He also organized a 16-kilometer peace and health walk in Tamale in 1999 to promote unity and well-being.
