Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has voiced his disagreement with the decision to award the 2024 Ballon d’Or to Manchester City midfielder Rodri, suggesting that Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior was the rightful winner.

Ronaldo made the comments during the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards held on Friday in Dubai. Expressing his dissatisfaction, he stated that it was “unfair” for Vinicius to miss out on the prestigious award.

“Vinicius Jr should have won the Ballon d’Or, in my opinion, it was clear,” Ronaldo remarked. “It was unfair. This is why I love Globe Soccer Awards; they are honest.”

The Ballon d’Or ceremony, which took place in Paris in October, saw Rodri secure the top votes, leading to a controversial decision that resulted in Vinicius Junior and Real Madrid officials boycotting the event.

The debate over the award shows differing perspectives on what defines excellence in football and continues to spark discussions among fans and players alike.
