Ghanaian gospel singer and TV personality, Empress Gifty Adorye, is under fire for hosting a segment on United Showbiz that discussed recent remarks by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills.
The bishop had stated that musicians and instrumentalists in churches should not be paid, which stirred a lot of controversy.
On the show, Empress Gifty brought together a panel to talk about the issue. But a video has gone viral showing an angry social media user slamming her for allowing such a conversation. According to the user, Empress disrespected a man of God by letting her guests criticize him on air.
The critic reminded the public that Empress was once a pastor’s wife—known in Ghana as an Osofo Maame—and said she should have handled the topic with more respect. He also pointed out that no one would dare criticize a Muslim leader like that, accusing her of being too quick to speak against a Christian pastor.
