Family Health University College (FHUC) has been granted the prestigious Presidential Charter by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which means it has been elevated to a full-fledged university.
This charter is the highest honor bestowed upon tertiary institutions in Ghana, symbolizing autonomy and excellence in education.
With this new status, Family Health University is now authorized to confer its own degrees, diplomas, and certificates. As the first and only private chartered university in Ghana with a Medical School, FHUC has achieved a remarkable feat.
The university’s journey began humbly in 1997 as a Diagnostic Centre and has since expanded into a hospital and established its permanent campus in Teshie in 2007.
Its commitment to training healthcare professionals led to the creation of the Nursing and Midwifery School in 2009 and Ghana’s first private Medical School in 2014.Professor E.Y. Kwawukume, Vice Chancellor and Founder of Family Health University, expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, and other partners for their support.
He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to integrity, innovation, and academic leadership, stating, “This award is just the beginning. We are excited to continue this journey, shaping the future of education and healthcare in Ghana”.
This achievement marks a significant step forward for Family Health University, solidifying its position as a premier institution for healthcare education and training in Ghana.
