GPL 2024/25: Legon Cities Take On Dreams FC In Crucial Relegation Battle

Published on

Legon Cities will face Dreams FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in a crucial Ghana Premier League Matchday-17 encounter.

The Royals are in deep trouble, sitting at the bottom of the league table with just 11 points from 16 matches. They are on a winless streak, struggling to score goals and keep clean sheets. Their last victory was back in Matchday-11 against Basake Holy Stars.

Joachim Yaw Acheampong recently replaced Paa Kwasi Fabin as head coach but lost his debut game against Hearts of Oak. Despite the setback, Acheampong is hopeful his side can finish the first half of the season on a high note.

Dreams FC, in 14th place, are coming off a narrow 1-0 win over Accra Lions and will look to build on that result. They aim to capitalize on Legon Cities’ poor form to climb the table.

While Legon Cities are struggling, history is on their side—they’ve won three of their last five matches against Dreams FC, with the other two ending in draws.

This promises to be a vital game for both sides in their fight to avoid relegation.
