The Ho Technical University (HTU) has announced the promotion of two female Senior Lecturers, Professor Eli Ayawo Atatsi and Professor Elizabeth Dzigbordi Obinnim, to the rank of Associate Professors.

This decision was made at the University’s 117th Regular Meeting, according to Dr. Christopher K. Amehoe, HTU Registrar and Secretary to Council.

The University Council recognized the significant contributions both professors have made to their respective fields through teaching, scholarship, and community service.

Dr. Amehoe noted that the quality and standard of their publications, as assessed by external evaluators, are comparable to those of reputable universities worldwide.

“Council, by this scholarly achievement, congratulates Management of the University for creating an enabling academic environment and research culture which has resulted in an appreciable number of professorial rank faculty in the University,” Dr. Amehoe said.

Professors Atatsi and Obinnim are the first female Associate Professors in the University’s history.

Professor Atatsi, from the Department of Management Science, has a Ph.D. in Management from the Open University of Heerlen, Netherlands, and has served in various roles, including Dean of International Programmes and Institutional Linkages.

Professor Obinnim, from the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles, holds a Ph.D. in Fashion Education and Management from the Business University of Costa Rica.

She has also held various positions, including Dean of Student Affairs, and has been commended for her exceptional community service to the University.

“Council commended Prof Obinnim for her scholarship in her discipline as well as exceptional community service to the University over the years,” Dr. Amehoe stated.

The promotions take effect from October 7, 2024, for Professor Atatsi and October 8, 2024, for Professor Obinnim.
