A tragic incident marred Asante Kotoko’s 1-0 defeat to Nsoatreman FC, as a fan was stabbed to death and several others sustained injuries following violent clashes.
The club confirmed in an official statement that the victim suffered fatal injuries and later passed away at Sunyani Hospital.
The match had already been tense, with multiple confrontations on the pitch leading to four red cards. However, tempers flared further after the final whistle, sparking violent clashes between rival supporters.
Following the tragic incident, the entire Kotoko team visited the hospital, where they received the devastating news of the fan’s passing.
Asante Kotoko has strongly condemned the violence and is urging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to launch an immediate investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
