Liverpool Goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga Returns To Fluminense In Permanent Transfer

Published on

Liverpool has confirmed the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga to his former club, Fluminense.

The announcement, made on the club’s official website, marks the end of Pitaluga’s four-year stint at Anfield.

The 21-year-old Brazilian had been third-choice behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher under manager Arne Slot.

During his time with Liverpool, Pitaluga was included in the senior matchday squad seven times and gained experience on loan at Macclesfield FC, St Patrick’s Athletic, and Livingston. “Everyone at Liverpool wishes Marcelo the best of luck for the future,” the club stated.

This transfer follows Liverpool’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester United on Sunday. The Reds remain at the top of the league table with 46 points from 19 games, ahead of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

As the January transfer window continues, it remains to be seen if manager Arne Slot will look to strengthen his squad further.
