The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has strongly opposed the appointment of Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi as Deputy Director-General for Management Services at the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Despite her impressive credentials, NAGRAT argues that she lacks the necessary experience in Ghana’s pre-tertiary education system.
NAGRAT’s National President, Angel Carbonu, insists that the position should be held by a professional teacher who has risen through the ranks within the GES structure.
“The Ghana Education Service is not an extension of a political office. It is a professional institution within the Public Services, and we will not tolerate the appointment of someone who is not a practitioner within the service space,” Carbonu stated.
NAGRAT has called on the government to immediately withdraw the appointment, emphasizing that while Prof. Dzisi excels in the university space, her expertise does not align with the GES’s operational structure.
