NUGS To Protest On February 25 Over Withheld WASSCE Results

Published on

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has announced a demonstration on February 25, 2025, to protest against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) over the withholding and cancellation of some 2024 WASSCE results.

NUGS has formally informed the Greater Accra Regional Police Command about the protest, demanding fairness and transparency in WAEC’s result management. In a statement issued on February 18, the union described WAEC’s actions as an “injustice and abuse of discretionary power.”

“This demonstration is a protest against what we see as an injustice. NUGS demands urgent intervention to ensure affected students have a fair opportunity to continue their education,” the statement read.

The union also condemned the delays, stating that even students whose results were eventually released missed admission opportunities at public universities.

Through the protest, NUGS hopes to push WAEC and relevant authorities to resolve the issue and prevent similar incidents in the future.
