Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah Allegedly Dismissed From Angel TV

Published on

Controversial broadcast journalist Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has reportedly been dismissed from Angel TV.

While the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) has yet to issue an official statement, multiple sources link his departure to recent controversies and internal disagreements. Afrifa-Mensah, who hosted the morning show “Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ” on Angel FM/TV, has been a divisive figure in Ghanaian media.

Known for his blunt commentary on socio-political issues, he frequently clashed with individuals and groups, including a public feud with fellow journalist Kwami Sefa Kayi, whom he accused of hypocrisy and double standards.

Tensions escalated recently when Afrifa-Mensah faced backlash from the Ga community for comments deemed disrespectful towards their traditional leaders.

A group of Ga youth stormed the Angel FM/TV premises, demanding an apology. Rather than defusing the situation, Afrifa-Mensah called the protesters “spineless cowards,” further heightening tensions.

The Nungua Traditional Council also summoned him over alleged defamatory remarks, illustrating growing discontent within traditional circles.

These incidents have reportedly strained Afrifa-Mensah’s relationship with ABN management, ultimately leading to his alleged dismissal.

As of now, neither Afrifa-Mensah nor ABN has released an official statement regarding his employment status.
