Premier League: Bournemouth Stuns Manchester United With 3-0 Win

Published on

Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth at Old Trafford, while Chelsea’s hopes of topping the Premier League table were dashed after a 0-0 draw with Everton.

United’s loss, their second consecutive defeat, has left the team languishing in 13th place, with four defeats in nine matches across all competitions since Ruben Amorim took over as manager.

Amorim’s decision to leave Marcus Rashford out of the squad for the third consecutive game has raised eyebrows, particularly after the 27-year-old England forward hinted at a desire for a “new challenge” following his exclusion from the team.

Rashford was present at Old Trafford in a United tracksuit, watching as his teammates struggled to contain Bournemouth’s attack.

The visitors took the lead in the 29th minute when Dean Huijsen capitalized on poor marking at a free-kick to glance a header past Andre Onana.

Justin Kluivert doubled Bournemouth’s lead with a 61st-minute penalty after Noussair Mazraoui fouled the forward, and Antoine Semenyo compounded United’s misery two minutes later with a cool finish from Dango Ouattara’s pass.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s draw with Everton means they remain one point behind leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand.

Everton’s new owners, the Friedkin Group, watched as their team held Chelsea to a goalless draw, with Nicolas Jackson’s first-half header striking the post being the closest either team came to scoring.

In other Premier League matches, Wolves secured a 3-0 victory over relegation rivals Leicester, with Gonçalo Guedes, Rodrigo Gomes, and Matheus Cunha scoring the goals.

The win moves Wolves to within two points of fourth-bottom Leicester. Southampton held Fulham to a 0-0 draw, leaving them eight points adrift of safety with only one win from 17 league games.
