Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, the Provost of the College of Education Studies at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The announcement was made on January 27, 2025, through a Facebook post by GES. Professor Davis, who holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Monash University in Australia, brings extensive academic and professional experience to his new role.
He has received recognition as a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow for his contributions to education and research in Africa. In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Davis is an active member of the Ghana Mathematics Association and has served as Vice President of the Ghana Education Research Association (GERA-Ghana), where he worked to improve educational policies and practices through research.
As the new Director-General of GES, Professor Davis is expected to continue the work of his predecessor while introducing his own vision and strategies to improve Ghana’s education system.
