Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has expressed his thoughts on John Mahama’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Shatta Wale emphasized the importance of leaders paying attention to the concerns of citizens, suggesting that Mahama’s win was a strong message from the people.
He wrote, “Shatta Wale Once Said: When you take the people for granted, you will have the greatest shock of your life.”
The musician had publicly supported Mahama before the elections, even kneeling before the former president in a widely discussed act of endorsement, asking for forgiveness and showing solidarity.
The elections, held on December 7, declared Mahama as Ghana’s President-Elect. On December 8, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia conceded defeat in a phone call to Mahama, which the president-elect later confirmed in a social media post.
