A shocking incident in Tamale, Northern Region, has led to the arrest of Tamale Technical Institute lecturer, Mr. Kwasi Amoako, after he physically fought his 19-year-old student, Abdul Rahman, over a woman.
According to GHOne TV, the altercation occurred outside a neighborhood café last Thursday. Witnesses say the two men were arguing over Fatimah Musa, a first-year student at the University for Development Studies (UDS). The heated exchange soon turned into a physical fight, leaving bystanders stunned.
One witness, café vendor Amina Ibrahim, described the scene: “They were yelling at each other, and suddenly, they started throwing punches. It was shocking to see a teacher fighting with his student.”
Abdul, who sustained injuries, claimed the argument started when Mr. Kwasi accused him of stealing his girlfriend. “Before I could explain anything, he hit me,” Abdul said.
The fight drew public attention, leading to Mr. Kwasi’s arrest for disturbing the peace and assault. Police Inspector Kofi Mensah confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
In a brief statement, Mr. Kwasi admitted his mistake and expressed remorse: “I made a mistake and deeply regret my actions. It was wrong, and I apologize to Abdul and the entire school.”
