The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has dismissed claims that results for the recently concluded exams will be released on December 29.
Speaking on Starr FM, John Kapi, WAEC’s Director of Public Affairs, clarified that the information shared by Education Minister Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum is incorrect.
“The Minister visited our office, where he was shown the broken-down machines, those operating below capacity, and a backlog of objective answer sheets waiting to be scanned. However, there was no formal discussion about when the machines would be fixed or when results would be released,” Kapi said.
He explained that after the visit, the Minister told the media WAEC would release results by December 28 or 29, but WAEC has not issued any such statement.
Kapi called the Minister’s claim “factually incorrect” and “scandalous.” The false information has caused confusion and anxiety among students and parents eagerly awaiting their results.
Kapi urged the public to rely only on WAEC’s official website and social media channels for accurate updates. While no official release date has been confirmed, WAEC assures that they will announce the date once it is finalized.
